Auto Crime advice from the Safer Spondon Team

Spondon is still being targeted for auto crime offences. The Safer Neighbourhood Team therefore reminds residents to make a few simple measures to ensure your vehicle remains secure:

  • Lock your vehicle and ensure all windows are closed.
  • Remove any valuable items from display, ideally taking everything into your property.
  • Remove any marks left on your windscreen by a satellite navigation system
  • Where possible park your vehicle near a street light or as near as possible to a residential property.

Derbyshire Police have seen an increase in calls relating to vehicles that have been left unlocked and have been targeted by the opportunist thief and items have been stolen. In some cases this has made insurance policies void with them refusing to pay out.

Spondon SNT has seized CCTV footage showing opportunists trying car door handles so it is happening.

If you see anything suspicious or have any information please contact police on 101.
