Community invited to open days for new Spondon care home

Older people, their families, professionals, volunteers and local residents are all invited to a series of open days marking the launch of a new care home in Spondon.

Situated on the site of the former Angler’s Arms on Nottingham Road, the purpose-built Willowcroft has 30 rooms for residential care, plus 30 for residents with dementia, spread over two floors.

Open days are now being held for potential residents, their families and supporters, ahead of the home’s opening on March 21. All open days run from 9am to 6pm.

Those who wish to find out more about Willowcroft’s services for themselves or a loved one are invited to open days on 28 February and 1 March, to view the accommodation, meet staff and receive more information about care and support for older people.

Willowcroft is part of MHA, the national charity providing accommodation, care and support services for 12,500 older people. MHA’s head office is in Derby and Willowcroft is its first care development to open in the city.

In addition, the care home is seeking volunteers and support group members. Volunteers make a real difference to older people by assisting on outings, spending time befriending residents, or taking part in organising recreational events. In addition, the support group supports residents by raising funds to extend the charity’s offering to older people. This can include garden parties and coffee mornings. Anyone who is interested in being a volunteer or joining the support group is invited to an open day on 4 March.

To arrange alternative viewing, or for more information, members of the public are invited to contact Home Manager Sue Garvey personally on 07540 961 698, or by emailing sue.garvey@mha.org.uk.
