Spondon Compactor Day - February 2012

In February 2012, Spondon Neighbourhood Board is working with Streetpride to collect large and bulky items, free of charge to help people in Spondon have a Spring clear out during half term week.

On Monday 13 February 2012, residents will be able to take any large or bulky items along to local collection events where they will be removed by Streetpride staff for free. The project has been funded by the Spondon Neighbourhood Board through their Streetpride devolved Budget.

A refuse vehicle and flatbed truck will be provided at the locations and times listed below for residents to dispose of unwanted household items. Metals will be recycled.
The following items will be accepted:

  • Soft furnishings, such as mattresses, cushions etc
  • Carpets and rugs
  • Household furniture, such as chairs, tables, etc
  • Bagged household waste
  • Bagged garden cuttings
  • Televisions / videos etc
  • Fridges, freezers, washing machines, microwaves etc

    Item which will NOT be accepted include:

  • Any fluids, eg. paint, creosote, varnish, fuel, oil etc
  • Motor vehicle parts
  • Gas bottles or batteries
  • Soil or asbestos
  • Builders waste (such as concrete, bricks, sand, rubble etc)

    Collections will be made on Monday 13 February 2012 at or as close to these locations as possible:

  • Edmund Road/Borrowfield Road 7.30 to 10.30am
  • Gravel Pit Lane/Ladybower Road 12noon to 2.45pm

    Residents are asked not to leave items for disposal at the stated locations outside of these times. The sites will continue to be monitored and anybody found fly-tipping, before or after the compactor days may be subject to a maximum fine of £50,000.
