New website pays tribute to former Spondon vicar

A new website has been launched dedicated to the memory of Spondon vicar and Spondon Boys Club founder, the Rev Edward Barber.

The website is the work of former Spondon Church Boys' Club member, Stephen Beet who now lives in France and has been working for a long while on collecting together photographs and memories of the Reverend and the Spondon Boys Club. He is hoping other former club members will now log on to add their own additional memories and photographs.

Speaking to the Derby Telegraph, Stephen said: "Since the website went live, I've had an old boy, John Dunnicliff, contact us from Australia. It would be great if lots of other old boys from the club would visit the site and register as members. They will then be able to upload photos, documents and sound files.

"The project has the support of several prominent personalities in Derby, including Dr Pete Meakin, artistic director of Derby Live."
