A huge local campaign has begun to prevent a proposed new housing development from getting the potential go-ahead on the edge of Spondon.
Plans have come to light for the potential new large housing development on the green belt land across the north boundary of Spondon, adjacent to Spondon Wood.
The stretch of land runs behind Pheasant Field/Huntley/Fallow Road/Deer Park View and plans show the development would stretch from Bluebells Dairy on the west to Dale Road on the east and close the current green belt gap between current housing on these streets and the ancient Spondon Wood to the North.
This land falls into Erewash Borough Council's boundary, rather than Derby City, and so comes under Erewash's planning board. It is part of their proposal to identify land within the Erewash boundary that may be suitable for future housing development in the coming years.
Many local residents, along with Spondon Councillors, have launched the campaign against the development and are encouraging local people to email/write their objections to Erewash Borough Council ahead of the initial deadline of 10th May.
Campaign posters and leaflets, downloadable below, explain how to register your objections and also offer suggestions on some of the many grounds under which the proposals may be unsuitable.
A Facebook group has also been created to keep up-to-date with all the latest news and action on the campaign.
